Many thanks for help on Woolaston House.

I have sent a message to the person who has carried out the history. It took a while to find him as I am new to this and got a bit confused where to find what I wanted, but got there in the end. My G.Grandfather and my Grandfather are both mysteries that I hope to solve for the family.

Originally it was a Workhouse, but other than that.....?

You could try the Welsh NA whose Gwent branch may hold or know where the patient records are, if they will release them to you.

Alternatively, for historical info, you could try contacting Newport FHS

Could anyone tell me the history of Woolaston House, was it more than an infirmary? My G Grandfather Thomas Edward Marsh Born 1871 was a patient there and died in 1926 by either jumping from an upstairs window and commiting suicide or by accidentally falling. The Death Certicate was inconclusive "because of his state of mind at the time" I have tried to find why he was in Woolaston but drawn a blank.
