Hi Wendy, try different ways of spelling the name, I found that my birth index was transcribed wrong.

Post a few facts about what you are searching for and see if someone can help.

What did the Record Office not find ?
Registry Offices are usually the places that hold certificates.

You need to find the GRO ref for the birth. Some births though pre 1875 weren't registered even though records started in 1837. It became an offence in 1875 not to register a birth within 42days or to register it late , fines were levied for this.

I am researching my fathers family but are having problems to confirm a birth due the record office failing to find the certificate. All my other research/information seem to fall into place. e.g.marriage etc. Can anyone give me an explanation how this can happen? Or how can i put this right?
