i always put in family research and this shows as part of the debit on the credit card transaction.

It's just a reference for yourself to keep tabs on your orders, RubyRed, maybe in case you order loads!!!
It doesn't matter if you don't fill it in at all, you'll still get your certs ok.

Not a silly ask at all Ruby...I wondered what that meant when I ordered my first cert.

It is merely a personal reference that you may give... really to keep a record of the ordered cert.

If I order a first cert for say John Smith I add my reference JS1...if I then go on to order another cert for this person I will add JS2 and so on. I just find it easier to keep tabs.

The problem then you will have is waiting for the postman to deliver the cert lol.

It is the first time I have tried to order a certificate through gro.gov.uk.
I was doing very well filling it in till I came to.Please type your personal reference for this application.

This is probably a silly ask,but what ref would this be.
