English marriage certs include the names and occupations of the couple marrying.........their declared ages, and their addresses at the time.

They also give (where known) the name and occupation of each of the fathers, plus the names of the witnesses.

A tree on Ancestry has George William Leonard born 1881-1883, Huddersfield, married Lois Disinger 26 Feb. 1901, Prince Edward Island, Canada, aged 20. It also has Lois born 1891! (Can't be right, married age 10?) It says he died 16 Aug. 1959, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I presume that, like most folk, you're looking these up at:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
The GRO index is not fully transcribed (thru 1983 yet) - they're up to 1935ish.

If you click on the page # link, you'll see all the names on that page of the register. e.g.:
:
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Dec 1851 (>99%)
Bottom Ann Huddersfield 22 388
Broderick Michael Huddersfield 22 388
Castle David Huddersfield 22 388
Coney Bridget Huddersfield 22 388
Fothergill Thomas Huddersfield 22 388
Jessop Maria Huddersfield 22 388
Kaye William Huddersfield 22 388
Mowbray Jane Huddersfield 22 388
Shaw Tom Huddersfield 22 388

One would normally do this for a marr (since obviously the bride and groom will both appear on the same page), and maybe for an illeg birth, since the child could be rego'ed under both surnames.

You can order English/Welsh BMDs using the above reference via:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
(You have to register first, and have a credit card handy - each cert costs 9.25 GBP, incl postage world-wide.)

You'll likely get less info on an English BMD than a Canadian one from any province (although I've not seen a full set from every province).
You can see what you'll get (near end) at:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_186584.pdf

No regular BMD cert from the GRO is an original - they`re all copies. The original is with the local register office, or maybe in the case of church marrs where the officiating `minister`is an approved register keeper, then the older originals are lodged in some archive - usually the county records office.

I am very new at researching documents in the UK. I am Canadian living in Mexico, but have been able to find a lot of ancestry information online. It seems that I now have some document numbers on family events but do not know what information is recorded on these documents or how to access the information... Do they mention: the bride's or groom's parents full name. Where they live or were born. How do I get this information?
I have an Ann Broderick married ( April/May/June 1873) in Huddersfield. Document #9a 614.
I have an Timothy Leonard married ( April/May/June 1873) in Huddersfield. Document #9a 614.
I have a Michael Broderick married (Oct/Nov/Dec 1851) in Huddersfield. Document #xxii 388.
He was married to an Ann (Anne) ???
