Hi Stephanie.

Just to confirm what others have said.
Try different variations of the surname.

I had the same problems with my branch of the "Williamson" surname.

Dissapeared after the 1851 census, and not found again until the 1881.

Tried a few spelling variations and eventually found them.
1861 as Wilkinson
1871 as Willerson

It could also be a case where they have been transcribed with the wrong surname ....... eg, the surname of the family above them

Try searching on the christian name of one of the children, birth year +/- 5, and county of birth

This is especially good if one of the children has a somewhat unusual name (not Mary or John!!).

If you put the last census that you have found them on here, perhaps we can help you, it could even be a simple spelling mistake.

As said above, worth posting details on here. Another possibility is that they emigrated - huge numbers did this in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Hi Everyone,

Just need some quick advise, I've hit a road block with my family tree, Looking online at the census' it seems that my ancestors were all living in Saint Neots and then by 20 years later the entire family has disappeared including all the children. Some of which were young males who I assume would have always kept their surname?

Any ideas? I've looked at the possibility that they moved area (which one son did) but no one else if appearing. What should be my next step?

Thanks Steph
