I think the ages given on most of these passenger records are approx.

Birth Date: abt 1904

Its possible he may have been 17 -18 -19 or older perhaps?

16 does sound young for an "Engineer"...but he may have been doing an apprentice?

Agree with Sylvia.

Enlargeing the actual passenger list of the intials it does appear to read A.R.Whistler.
42 Upperton Rd, Eastbourne.... Occupation: Army
Country of last permanent Residence: India
Port of Disembark : Liverpool Eng.

Only other i could see leaving Australia but arriving in London.

Name: Mr Whistler
Birth Date: abt 1904
Age: 16
Occ: Engineer
Port of Departure: Sydney, Australia
Arrival Date: 25 Jul 1920
Port of Arrival: London, England
Ports of Voyage: Melbourne
[Adelaide]
[Colombo]
[Bombay]
[Plymouth]
Ship Name: Naldera
Search Ship Database: View the 'Naldera' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Shipping line: Peninsula and Orient Steam Navigation Company Ltd
Official Number: 142257

Most passenger ship that left Australian Ports would dock at India on there way through to the U.K ..via Cape of Good Hope

Australian history also tells us that most Convict Hulks that left the U.K would also (via Cape of Good Hope ) stop in India before arriving to Australia..

Hi Sylvia,

Thanks for looking the image up. For some strange reason I couldn't view it but my internet seems to be playing up.

Looking at the actual image for that record that Gai found:-

it might possibly actually be A R Whistler

Address:- 42 Upperton Rd, Eastbourne

Profession:- Army

looks like he's a soldier (???Indian Army or British Army), returning home

but it does look more like R than H

Hi Patricia,

I found this on ancestry but I'm not sure if it's your Albert. Do you know what year he was born as I can't seem to find him leaving Australia.

I will keep looking.

if you don't have access to ancestry and the passenger lists, post their names ........ preferably on THIS thread ...... and someone will look them up for you.

I say this thread, becuse that avoids duplication of threads!

Hi Patricia.

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/stories/214.htm

The UK incoming passenger lists for 1878 to 1960 (series BT 26) have been launched online by Ancestry.co.uk.

The passenger lists are for people arriving in the United Kingdom from ports outside of Europe and the Mediterranean and may include: name of passenger, their birth date or age, port of departure, port of arrival, date of arrival and vessel name. It is free to search the website, but there is a charge for viewing the full entry and downloading images of the passenger lists.

Or.... you could add the names of the people you are searching for, and someone with ( Ancestry )could check for you.
