GR messages very short

When you reply on these boards, there's a remaining character count that shows at bottom left of text box.

Private messages are also limited to 5000 characters, but there's no count showing - if I think I've got a long message that I might need to split, I usually start a reply/post to some thread, check the count, then wipe it out of the reply box so I don't post it on a board, and proceed appropriately with the private message.

The limit for messages on GR is 5,000 characters.

However, you need to have enough space in your browser when you are typing otherwise you will come to a premature full stop.. Try clearing your browser cache, otherwise known as your internet temp files and try again.

thanks Shirley but i dont think that is what is happening here, i only wrote 78 words. I have just looked at message 2 below this re Matilda Miller its 3 times the length i got to write

yes they have limit on the number of words. Was one of their "helpful" ! updates some time ago

I have been trying to reply to a message a member sent me, wanted to send rather a detailed one but GR seems to have shortened what it will let me send (i had had to split it in 4)
Is this something to do with settings? Seem to remember it happening a few years back
