why when yiu search for a person does it say there in the census but you cant find them on the orignal is there a second page i am not seeing ?

Guess you must be searching the genes census. Its not very user friendly cos you cant go forward or back to the next page unless you know a name that will be on it and search again..
Personally would never have anything but a basic genes membership and the take subs to better sites like Ancestry or Find My Past. I like Ancestry best having used both .

thanks for the tip is there anyway of copying your tree over or do you have to add it yourself, i am having some probs with genes i havent been able to seqarch births for two days

You can download your tree from here to your home computer as a gedcom. Use the drop down box where it says 'family tree'. Unless you have a suuitable family history programme on your computer, you won't be able to open it.

You can upload it from your home computer as it stands to any other FH site. If you have notes or photos attached, they will probably get lost in the move.

Your tree will still be in GR - you won't have removed it, just copied it.

I have also been unable to find a name on the census, only occasionally, I think it is a fault with their search facility....Jle

if you want any help in searching then only to pleased to take a look on Ancestry.
If it pre c1930 then have you looked on FreeBMD fo the birth.
If its census info then giev me some details and I will see what i can find.

GR's record facilities are a lot cheaper than sites such as Ancestry or FMP so don't knock it altogether. Some people haven't got the money to pay more.
