Sue, you don't have to put anything, i leave it blank when ordering certs. I believe it's so that "You" can keep track on what Certs you have ordered, but i have never used it myself.

Maybe someone that does use it will tell you a little more about it.

Hi again,
So i was going to order the death cert, got to the bottom of the GRO form with no problem but came across this at the end,

"Please type your personal reference for this application".

Could someone please tell me what do i type.
Again thanks
Sue

Hi IGP, Yeh i had a look at that site before i posted and found it helpful, but thought it was referring to a lot older one's than what i wanted,so no matter if it's the 1800s or 1900s there all the same info are they?
I didn't want to waste money if i can't get the info i wanted.
Thanks for you help
Sue

Rather than give you the answers direct, it is more fun to find out for yourself.

Have a look at this site - all you need to know about BMD's It will tell you what info appears on a certificate.

If you have any questions then come back on here and ask.

Good luck.....!

Hi all, among other things i'm trying to find out where my uncle lived in the 1950s/60s, his mum, my gran went to live with him when she became ill, she died in 1958 at Gainsbourough, so i'm presuming he lived round there as well.
If i send off for her death cert will it tell me where she was living at the time, even if she died in hospital?
Then if i send for my uncles death cert, would it by any chance tell me if he was married or a widower, he died 1991.
If i can't find any of the info out by the death cert's, is there any other way of finding info out about him.
Or am i just wanting more than i can get.!!
Regards
Sue
