Not seen it mentioned on here, but Ancestry have today announced that they have gained access to the 1911 Census. They say the first records should be available later this year, with the whole thing complete by end of 2011.
More good news - it will be covered by existing packages (essentials, premium and worldwide) so no need to buy an extra sub.

More info on the Ancestry blog.

That's great news Rob.......especially as it's going to be available to all existing packages! Thanks a lot!

Kind regards,

Cathy

That will knock the bottom out of the 1911 market.

How strange, Many of us that have waited for the 1911 census as another reference tool as part of our subscription the same as all other censi, will get exactly the same way as we got the 1891 and 1901 censi. 100 years after they were taken.

Where did you find the information? I have just Googled and couldn't see anything.

TheGenealogist.co.uk will also have the 1911 census -

It was announced that, once find my past had had the complete census online for six months, then other sites could apply for it and start transcribing it.

PP,
Yes, initially they will show the enumerators books, the rest will follow being complete by end of 2011.
Exact wording:
"We will be launching the first section of the 1911 England and Wales Census content before the end of the year, with the complete Enumerators Summary Books, after which we will begin the process of putting the Householder Schedules online in sections, completing in 2011".
So whether you'll be getting it through Ancestry or because FMP show it as part of their package, it's still the same result - access to 1911 at a more sensible rate!
But if you prefer to be a "glass half empty" person, feel free ;-)

Both ancestry and TheGenealogist.co.uk will have the complete 1911 census online by the end of next year.

As I posted earlier, once find my past had had the complete census online for six months, then other sites could apply for it and start transcribing it.

Will the last column of the census form become available on the 1911 census site in 2011?
- that will not be uncovered until the 100 years have passed, ie in 2012.

Now let me think.
1911+100=2011? 3rd April?

Most of the information from the 1911 census has been released, but the most sensitive information will be unavailable until 2012.
