Scotland Births confusion

A page of marriages from Scotlands People from Nov 1 /1791
to Jan 1792 shows in the left hand column the month of marriage.

In the right hand column there are nos which suggested to me were the day of the marriage.

I checked the Beta family search for 3 of the marriages against the year day and month and all fitted the same details as on scotlands People.

I later noticed what i thought was the day of the month in the right hand column were out of sequence.

EG Jan 3/ 3/ 3/ 2/ 3/ 9/ 6/ 10/ 13.

Which puts my theory wrong.

Could anyone shed any light on what the nos are in this column please.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Best wishes
Maurice.

You could try checking out all the marriages on the page.

See if they match up with the dates on the right hand side.

Possibly the parish records were written up in batches at the end of the month for instance ... and not in sequence as they happened.

Every OPR marriage I've ever seen differs from the other. Each parish seem to have their own style of recording.

Thank you for your reply Helen.

I could only check 3 marriages as the others were unreadable, but your reply makes sense.

Best wishes Maurice.
