Both Ancestry and Fmp sell credits,they also do 14 day free trials.

Well, I haven't answered your query at all! I can't for the life of me see what each record "costs". As there are a few replies others might not look here, so I suggest you re-submit this thread and I won't reply!

Thanks for that Jan, I have asked for help in the past but thought perhaps I had had more than my fair share. As I am on a pension I can't afford Ancestry though I would like to.

To be honest, I personally wouldn't go down this route - I have seen lots of posts on here from people having trouble with Genes records. Better to join a site like Ancestry or Findmypast (FMP), though they are expensive. Both do 2-week free trials though, which might be worth doing, as long as you cancel in good time.
Or do what others do - give us the details and we'll find them for you.

Can someone please tell how much information shows on census listings when you view. I want to buy some credits but am unsure of how much information I will receive. Also is it one credit per lookup.
