Ive changed the setting to hide living realtives but when i searched a lviing relative from my partners site they still appeared in my tree?

Yes, they will appear in your tree and on searches, as the real names are present on the database as a result of your upload.

However, anyone who has access to your tree will not see the names displayed when they access it.

If you are concerned, then the only sure-fire way is to remove those names altogether from your tree, or replace them with an anonymous name such as 'living'

Yes, that's what happens - I can search for one of your living relatives, get a hit, and see that it's in Ria's tree and send you a message about them.

If you then decide to give me access to your tree they will only show as a living relative. Try giving your partner access to your tree, and then view your tree from that site and you'll see exactly what you would reveal if you gave someone access.

My opinion is that GR have got this setting right, and it's what you would want to happen.

Notwithstanding this, be cautious about granting tree access - every month there's a post on these boards from someone who's had a large chunk of their tree copied by the accessor and the poster finds this objectionable.
