It should be in either the Marine deaths or Military indices on Find My Past. It wont tell you much though re cause of death will probably say something like lost at sea.and maybe the name of the vessel

Can anybody tell me how to get my grandad's death certificate? He died on 31st May 1916 when his ship was blown up and sank during battle. His name on on the memorial at Plymouth Hoe but I haven't found any record of his death in the registers
