I use FTM 2010 and it displays the relationship between the selected person and the one that you have set as the Home Person on screen. So if you set yourself as the Home Person is gives the relationship to anyone in your tree automatically just by highlighting the person.

It also works out compound relationships too so for example it can tell you that someone is related to your wife's brother in law's sister.

Here are examples from my own tree, just to give you an idea

Husband of sister in law of 2nd great grand aunt of me
Granddaughter of father in law of great aunt of my wife

In fact, as long as there is some sort of connection it will work it out for you.

I also have a great uncle who died 95 years ago next week - 22nd November 1915 in Mesopotamia (now Iraq). I too will be remembering him tomorrow.

Thanks Kath, I wanted to remember him tomorrow at the Remembrance service as he died in the 1st world war.

Your grandmother's brother would be your great uncle. In the U.S. I believe it would be grand uncle.

Your great uncle.

He would be uncle to either your mother or father.

Can any one tell me what relationship my Grandmother's brother would be to me please?
