Hi
Thank you Kay for that info re the regiment.
Rose- unfortunately his name is John Davis
I think I found him in the 1841 census age 50 living in Kent as an Army Pensioner, with wife Anne and children Maria Henry and George. The reason I looked in Kent was that his son Charles was married in April 1841 in Sheppey Kent.
The problem with the name Davis is that it is often misseplt as the more popular Davies

Best wishes

If you google,

53rd Regimet of Foot (Shropshire),it gives information on the actions plus a picture of the uniform.
It doesnt mention Waterloo in the write up.

What's his name? Ancestry has Waterloo records.

Hi All
Does anybody know much about The Battle of Waterloo
I suspect that my 3x Great Grandfathet may have served in this battle.
On the censuses his son is shown to have been born in Hanover Germany around 1817,when i sent for his marriage certificate (he married in 1841) it showed his father was A Sergeant in the 53rd Regiment.
When I had access to to findmypast i could not find his father listed in the Warterloo Medal roll.
Thank you
Norma
