Have you looked at De Ruvignys Roll of honour on Ancestry. This contains biographies of casualties in WW1. Sometimes there is a photo.
I found an ancestor in this book who died Christmas Day 1914. You are more likely to find someone who died at the beginning of the war.

If you find the record on the CWGC site you can print out a record from there which is a bit like a certificate.

i have 2 relatives that died in1918 and1914 in the 1st world war both at Flanders.
i went on the militery records on findmypast index to deaths 1914-1921 and found both relatives.
i printed out the page and it has year, page and vol, my question is can anyone tell me where i can get a copy of there death certificates.
ive looked in the death records on findmyppast but i cant find either .
any help or advice please
