have a look at this site, you can compare your photo with those listed so you may get some idea of when it was taken if its in the timescale you are seeking.

My avatar is that of my Dad and shipmates, taken onboard HMS Blanche in 1938, place unknown From left to right, my Dad,Sidney Mellor and Sidney Bateman.
