We've been given the name Jessie Andrews from my husband's mum - he married under the name Alfred Cook, as far as I'm aware. I think I'll request my husband's dad's birth cert (he died 24 years ago) and will have a look at the mother's details.

I'll also have a look on the freebmd website and will let you know what I find!

There is no ref to Jessie Andrews having any other christian names on the marriage index to Alfred Cook.which is strange.

Whos is he living with in 1911,?could he have been-- close family linked.?

What makes yo think he married Jessie??

Under what name did he marry?

To prove if that might be his bride ........ you'll need to get the birth certificate of one of their children

the mother's surname is on the registrations from mid-1911 onwards.

bmds are best looked for on www.freebmd.org.uk

but Cook - Andrews combinations may not be sufficiently distinct for you to identify.

Try looking on freebmd for the birth registration of your husband's parent, see what it says.

Hi - could someone tell me how I search someone who has been adopted? My husband's grandad was Alfred, born 2 Sept 1903. His adopted surname was Cook, and we think his original surname may have been Higgins. He died in Newham in 1974. We think he married Jessie Sarah Cordelia Andrews on 26 Dec 1926. Any advice on how we can trace further back to Alfred's biological parents would be appreciated.
