Ahh - thank you.

That sounds much more like it and now seems highly likely to be him. He was born in 1909 and certainly at sea around this time. Does it give any more detail about which port he was heading into if he was leaving from Liverpool? Was it Boston?

Thank you for that.

1828 is rather too early so not likely to be the person I am looking for. At least that puts my mind at rest and stops me heading off on a wild goose chase so I am very grateful for you spending the time to look it up for me.

Many Thanks

Hi

I am trying to track down a little more information about my grandfathers time at sea and/or in America. I know that he worked as a ships steward on liners between Liverpool and the USA but have so far turned up few records of his time there.

I have found him on a ship called the Dominic working between Peru and arriving in New York in 1929, but no idea how he got to Peru from Liverpool! I know that he returned to Liverpool from New York in June 1931 on the Baltic - and think that this marked the end of his time at sea. I would love to fill in some of the gaps and glad of any help here.

His name is Elford Hugh Jones and he was born in 1909. Not a very common name - but I think he did not always use the Elford part and this helps to confuse things as Hugh Jones is considerably more common!

I can find one other possible link in a potential hit on the Boston passenger lists on Ancestry, however I do not have a worldwide sub so can't see any details to know if this may be him or not and I really don't want to upgrade just to find out it is not him!! If anyone is able to look this one up and tell me if they think it is a match I would be very grateful.

Any suggestions anyone can find would be very much appreciated.
Thankyou in advance

Viki
