help please - starting a second tree

I have been compiling my tree on my father's side and am now considering researching my mother's side. However, I find the layout of the tree quite confusing, so would like to have a separate tree for my mother's family. Can I have 2 trees on the go and if so, how do I open a new one?

You can have a free tree on GR but I don't think it connects to Hot matches etc.
