Can anyone give me some advice about how to check the registration or not of Annie Adelaide Carr 1918-1967. She worked as a nurse periodically from about 1938-1965 and I am trying to find her registration details. Is there such a thing as a national register that would have old records and if so how do I access it? Any help much appreciated.

It seems that you may not be able to see these records. Have a look here for details:-

Have found some info that might be of use to anyone else trying to trace a nurses registration. From 1922 - late 1940's registration included Name [plus maiden name], registration date and number, address at that time, and where they qualified with dates. This changed in 1950's to only new nurses and did not include the address. You cannot access the lists because of the data protection act but you can request a search. Cost is £10 per individual payable in advance [make cheque payable to Royal College of Nursing] and send your request to RCN Archives,42 South Oswald Road, Edinburgh.EH9 2HH.

I used to work in the central nursing office of our local hospital - all qualified nurses have to b registered annually with the UKCC but these records are not open to just anyone - I had to check registrations on a regular basis but had to have a password to do so
