I've found out from the 1891 Census that my great great grandfather, Joseph Besant, was a Police Constable in London. I'm wondering whether there are records of this type of thing and if so, where I could view them?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chevaun.

I tried a couple of addresses for Met police officers & the one that really came up trumps was '[email protected]'.

They were brilliant & quick, sending me several PDF pages of records. Just give them as much info as you can e.g. full name ,D.O.B. & approximate dates of service.
Good luck
Rosemary

Thanks for the responses, will give those a go.
I just want to check, do I need to pay for this info and is this something I ask for online or do I have to call them?

Hi Rosemary,
I just tried [email protected] and the page is not loading, is that definately the right address?
Thanks.

Chevaun,

The address that Rosemary gave you is the email address for the Metropolitan Police Service - History, FOMPHC, which is how you contact them for any information.

Apologies,I haven't been on for a couple of days. Mel75 is correct, that is the email address. There was no charge for the information.
