Can anyone help with a death.

John Chilton was born Rolleston, Nottingham, and joined 3rd Dragoon Guards early 1800s. Married Esther Massey, Manchester 1824. Served in Ireland, Bristol,Coventry and was a Barrack Master (Pensions) around 1840.Esther lived in Manchester and was a widow on the 1851 census.
Can anyone find the death of John probably between 1840-1850. I have details from the Military but nothing comes up about when he died. They must know - anyone any ideas of how to get info from the Nat.Archives - Military deaths..
Thank you in anticipation.
