Thank you for that Shelley.......
I did put up "Sorted Thankyou" yesterday but it seems to have gone AWOL.
When I looked at the medical records that George told me about, He was never abroad , (medical reasons) so never got any medals.... was transferred to the reservists. Apparently only those that went overseas got a medal. So according to family hearsay, this poses more questions than it answers!! As all that could answer these have passed on it leaves things in the air rather.

Hello Margaret

Yes it does say 17 images, now this is one of the daft things that happens sometimes on these records, when you start at the first page you have to go backwards rather than forward to find the others.

There are six or so other pages, but maily details of medicals etc.

You could try going backwards from the image that appears first - sometimes more pages can be found!

Medal records weren't damaged, just service records.

Thank you Ann...... I took "home" to mean he was on leave... but found nothing to say he had been to France or anywhere. But, I was also wondering, seeing as they are burnt if there were some burnt beyond hope. It does say 17 images but only found 10 then went on to the next person...... Was supposed to have had nightmares when demobbed too... Ahh well... thank you.

Have had a quick look at his records and it appears that he only served "at home". If he didn't serve overseas then he would have no entitlement to medals.

I have my grandfathers Arthur Barber ' s service records printed from Ancestry..... they are burnt at the edges...

Says his regiment no is ??75......West riding regiment
when you read the records it says reg. no is 5971/267635....

I am trying to find his medal card...... The only one I can find for Arthur Barber is for West Yorks Reg. no.37538... now I had saved this as that is where I started.......
then found service records which I know is him as gives wife , marriage date & place & my father too. So obviously the medal card must be wrong.

my question is this...... were medal cards records in with the burnt records. If not where do I go from here. Have looked on ancestry & also documents on line.

Thank you
