I use google a lot for text searches but always forget the 'search images',

Just found an old row of cottages ( from a street name) , which I'd been told had been demolished years ago, one of them has come up on images from an estate agent so I am going to see if I can match up some old photos against the images,

worth a try if you are looking for someone or somewhere!

I've done this too Rose for one of my Ancestors. The farm had been in the family for generations. I google it and found planning permission had been applied for. It was very interesting

I often forget to google names. places etc. When I do I'm always surprised at things I didn't realise were there.

Hi Rose.nice to see you around....when I'm at a loose end i Google Earth streets/addresses i get from the 1911 census.....huge Victorian houses that housed the rich and pwerful in 1911..that are now squalid bedsits....great fun when you're bored...as well as a sign of how change takes place...........it helps of course if they were around in 1911 and are still standing now.

Derek........yep that one again!!! xx

I did that with my grandfather's address in 1911 Derek, the house was still there which was interesting to see...and the street where his wife lived was not far away! Complicated story yet to fully unravelled lol.

Evening All

Just a thought but did I see some where on Google were you can add old photos. I am sure you could view them by town.

I may have been wrong

On one occaision I googled a small town in New Zealand where OH's grandmother was born and found photographs of one of my own families on the same street.

TootyFruity, I found the same thing!

My ancestral surname Rushland became extinct when the two boys born c1810 failed to reproduce -- but I found their Rushland Farm being redeveloped in this century.

No pix though -- although real estate / development pages on the web can indeed be good resources.

Tetley, you may be thinking of Francis Frith?

Tetley, it is always worth Googling a place name in Images, i have found some great ones by doing that of Chiswick, photos of the river boats etc, and plates from old books.

In fact..ALWAYS Google....anything..even the smallest village..and you never know what you might find if you Google "Genuki" followed by a place...
