Hi SatNav,

That's the right family. And the correct birth Reg etc. I have his birth certificate. But the problem is that I have been in contact with what we think is his descendent.

The family are in England on the 1881 census. I have copies of their emigration which states they emigrated in 1881. But on USA 1900 cenus it states the family emigrated in 1883 and his year of birth is March 1873. His birth cert says he was born March 1872. Apparently there are no records available for the 1890 USA census, which doens't help either.

The family in USA have his marriage liscense which does have a date & area of birth but it says same date except the month is April & it's 1873 South Wales. So although the area & actual date matches, the year and month of birth don't. But the license doens't have parents names or any witness's. So can't be 100% certain we are on the right track without finding the missing link.

I've been told that sometimes the death certificate includes his birth date and possibly wife's name and address. So I need to find his death so that I can order the certificate.

Thanks again for the help.

Regards, Lou

Hi SatNav, mgnv & +++DetEcTive+++,

Many thanks for your replies, I do have the 1900 census for Arthur SatNav and you are correct the one you found is mine. He is the son of Cornelius.

DetEcTive, I have a contact who believes this person is her gt grandfather and she has visited the cemetery, it is she who gave me the estimated year of death. She did ask someone who worked for the cemetery if they could give her the date of death, and the reply was that there was no more information available on him. I don't have the year of death just a rough estimation. I find it hard to believe that there would be no more information available about him. They must have a full date of burial even if not full date of death. Yesterday I did write to the Cemetery, but that's for the address, it took me ages to find it.

Mgnv, I havne't the time just now to try the websites you suggest, but will do it for sure tonight.

Many thanks again for all your wonderful help, it is most appreciated.

Thanks again,
Regards, Lou

Would it be worth writing to them? They may have burial records and details of who paid for the internment.

I think Ann's answer is poorly worded - my guess is what she should have said is "no (name) deaths in the records I searched" - probably the US SS death index, but this only apples to people receiving pensions from the federal govt (I think), so most deaths pre WW2 are not there.

Hi Ann,

Many thanks for taking the time to look.

I don't understand it really especially the Arthur Baker as he's buried in Southside Cemetary Pennsylvania, but unfotunalty the stone doesn't give year of death.

But never mind, perhaps he died elsewhere but buried there.

Thanks anyway for your time it's very much appreciated. And again thanks for looking for Cornelius too.

I'd much appreciate a look up if anyone can oblige as I was to get the death certificate's and have been informed I need full date of death before I can order them.

Arthur J Baker died 1908 - 1911 Pittsburg Pennsylvania he would be in his 30's as he was born around 1872. Possibly in Lower St Clair Allegheny.

Also Cornelius E Baker died between 1900 - 1910 Allegheny Pennsylvania. He was born 1850 England so would be aged between 50 - 60.

Many thanks for any help anyone can give me, it is very much appreciated.
