Hi everyone,
I know for sure my sister, Patricia Buggs, was born on the 21 January 1942 at Jubilee Maternity Hospital, Belfast. My father was stationed there for some reason? But I cannot find any record of her birth - why is that?
Help/advice please
Best regards
Doreen

her birth should be in the Army indices on Find My Past. They wont be on the GRO records as she was born in Ireland
Was your dad in the Forces at the time

looks like her birth isnt on Consular or Army records but then Belfast was tecnically British Territory .Would say you would have to get the cert from Belfast

Shirley, My sister has her birth certificate from which I got the details so really I don't need any more info - but curiosity got the better of me and I couldn't understand why I couldn't find her on line!!! Hit a few brick walls on another branch of the family so probably a bit bored and decided to look for her!!!! Sometimes it seems strange that even if you have a lot of details (i.e. re: my gg grandfather, d.o.b. etc. I can't seem to find him) does this mean records are missing or have been destroyed for some reason?
However, I was really pleased tonight when I managed to get to see a photograph of my great grandfather outside the pub he used to run in Kent. Don't which one he is as there must have been over 50 men in the picture??? This was via the web as I knew the name of the pub he ran.
Good to chat and thanks for your help.

records pre 1997 are held by the General Register Office, based at Oxford House, 49-55 Chichester Street, Belfast, BT1 4HL

sorry we cross posted!1. Well births pre 1875 may not have been registered .Many weren't as people thought having the child baptised was sufficient, Also the registrar had to go around his patch to sign up the birth and as people moved around a lot or just simply wouldn't open the door in case it meant someone was chasing em for the rent etc, then lots were missed.
In 1875 it became the parents responsiblty to go to the registrar within 42 days ie 6 weeks from the birth to register the birth ,with a fine for late or none registration.
