Gwyn
my friend will be speaking to her gmother again soon. but it is very difficult to find out anything from her. She just clams up. We are pretty sure that his surname is Pillotti or Pillotte. They were living at Wantage, Berkshire I think at the time. He was living in Somerset somewhere. We are hoping we can find out where.

I think it is possible that if he was lost at sea, then he has no known grave.

We have 2 locations to work on, so would it be possible to chat to grandmother and find out where she was living in the war, ...rather than quiz her? We need to find a link.

If he was French Canadian it might be possible to find out more if we know where he was based,.

Yes, I had a quick look there, which makes me wonder if his body was returned to his family, wherever that was. I don't know where to start looking.

All I know is that he lived in Somerset, I have no idea where they met. As I say, all these years she would not discuss him and only just blurted out these few details the other day!

Do you know where the couple met and roughly when?
That might help to establish his regiment / country .

I need some help. A friend has asked me to find out details of her grandfather's death. Apparently, he was coming home from the war and died in the British channel sometime during 1941 and 1942.

His name was Ernest Pillotti or Pillotte (spelling not known) and he would have been around 23 or 24 when he died.

As my friends grandmother was not married to him, we do not have much info as she did not discuss the man, and got very upset about it as he was returning home (to Berkshire) to marry her. He did not know she was carrying his baby. In fact, she didn't even give his name, until now, out of the blue.

We think he was French Canadian, but not sure if he was in the American army or british army.

I cannot find his death in the England records, and do not have access to American ones. Where would such a death be recorded?

We are hoping to find out more about his family, whether he had siblings or if they might have living relatives.

Can anyone help with our search please?
Thanking you all in advance.
Dee
