Hi there,
Just put another link up for a 1911 look up and i have the information about the inmate. Think this is the man and he had a fall out with family and moved and then ended up in an asylum, he must have claimed he was single, its such a shame, but then maybe he didn't want the shame on his family. But this does look like him and im going to send for his death certificate. You are such stars, thank you so much for doing that look up for me. Great Help

This is the only Samuel Padley born 1843 that I can find on the 1911 census (he's in a workhouse):-

PADLEY, Samuel Inmate Single M 68 1843 Formerly Navvy Yorks Loughton

Address:
East Retford, Nottinghamshire

Reference:
RG14PN20194 RD426 SD2 ED13 SN9999

EDIT - just realised this one says he is single.

You're welcome. Perhaps someone could do a 1911 Census search for you.

Hello Allison
I know you did not ask for Census but I think he married and was still alive in 1901:
1891 Living Hollin Hill, Rotherham with family as posted above and working as a Brass Finisher
In 1901 looks as though he was still working as a Brass Finisher living at Brecks Cottages, Dalton, Yorkshire with
Martha (1873) wife
George W (1895) son
Matthew (1898) son
Do you agree

Hi there,
yes thats him. Thanks for looking. Think we might have a skeleton in the closet, so maybe they put him as dead, but he wasn't, but then can only find one in lincoln in the next census, so that could be him and he moved out.

Was he born Wickersley, Rotherham?
Other family members:
Father John (1844)
Mother Ann (1837)
Brother Thomas (1873)
Brother Matthew (1877)

hi there,
It was Rotherham, but think he may have been somewhere else, he shows up missing on the next census and people have looked for me and have found one in lincolnshire, so could be anywhere really

Hi there,
Can't find the death of Samuel Padley born 1843. He is on the 1871 census and showing as dead in 1888. So would like to find his death registration so that i can send of for his certificate. Can't seem to find him. I dont need census returns. Thank you
