How do I find birth and marriage information from Irish records? Ive got as far back as great grandmother and got stuck because she was born in Ireland. She was Martha McGowan died in 1934 aged 71 so born approx 1863, 1891 census gives place of birth as Ireland, death cert shows parents as James McGowan and Hannah Hardie.
Any advice gratefully received. NB She was living in Scotland.

She married William Letters who died in 1890 in Dundee...then in 1901 she is in census living as housekeeper to a Owen Keelan - she had 3 children registered as illigitimate but one of them changed his name to Keelan so maybe he was father to all of them...no way of knowing...they lived 28 Greenmarket Dundee in 1901.
cheers

Fiona

I gave you the name of her father in a seperate previous post - James and mother Hannah Hardie

On Irish Roots there is a Martha McGowan with a father James born 1864 in Antrim but it costs 5 Euro to open and there is no guarantee it is her :

Action Source Surname First Name Year County
Civil Birth Gowan Martha 1864 Co. Antrim
