James Nolan b 1932 to William Nolan and May Caffrey in Didsbury Manchester. The fathers name wasn´t on the birth certificate but William and May went on to have a son in 1934, and had a daughter in 1929, William and May show 3 children on all records. Thanks guys, Carole

Thanks RutlandBelle. I am looking for my living uncles James b 1932 and William Nolan b 1934, I have birth certificates, have found them on the census, they are alive as far as I can tell, so how do i go about finding them alive. I ahve reams of lists and addresses, is it a good idea to write to them all?

You could try handwritten letters, and even enclose a SAE for yourself.

Say you are researching your family history, give a few details and names, and ask them to get in touch if they recognise any names as there may be some connection between you.

I would make it clear that you are not looking for anything only some information

good luck

different surname spelling

Births Mar 1934 (>99%)
Nolan William Caffery Salford 8d 353

Births Mar 1929 (>99%)
Nolan Edith Caffery Manchester N. 8d 923

A bit puzzled by these 2 statements Carole

'have found them on the census' - the latest census available is 1911

'William and May show 3 children on all records.' - what records have you found them on please
