Before you can do the step Lindsey describes above, you have to create the gedcom from your PAF program. Open PAF which by now should contain your new merged tree and click on something like file / export / export gedcom . I can't give the eaxact instructions as I don't have PAF.

Once your file has been saved then go back to GR and Import it.

Thank you for your help Lindsey and inspector Green Pen for the advice given...

I have tried the instructions...
Sadly i am stuck again... I have exported the file and is sitting as an attachment in my inbox... But i click on the attachment and i try opening the attachment and i get "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an assocation in the Set Associations control panel"
So i cant continue with the instructions above sadly :( as i'm not knowing what to do to set this association...

I don't use PAF but I suspect that it has the facility to merge a gedcom file on to its existing database, in which case I would proceed as follows:-

* Save a copy of your existing PAF tree data in a safe place, as backup
* Export your GR file as a gedcom
* When received from GR, save to your PC
* Import / merge your GR gedcom into your existing PAF data
* When completed, create a new gedcom from your now merged data on PAF
* Import / upload this gedcom back to GR

Your GR and PAF trees should now be the same.

In the future,do all your updates on PAF, not GR then periodically upload a new gedcom back to GR

I dont think its possible trees are loaded by Gedcom and any new tree introduced will overwrite the one you already have, although notes and photos do not always follow .

I have two trees one here with 966 names and a PAF file with 1296 names... How do i merge the Paf file with genes??? I really dont want to input the missing names manually..

Thanks
