hi
after years of trying to find out where my great grandfather was born i have succeeded with a little help from the 1911 census.
his name was Patrick O'Neill born c1849 in Kilbannon Co Galway.
On his marriage cert in 1872 (first sighting of him in england) he gives his fathers name as patrick o'neill and his fathers occupation as Farmer.
Do you think there is a chance i might now be able to find his birth or family now that i have his place of birth
any help or advice would be much appreciated
thanks linda

Linda, there will not be a birth certificate for him but, if I were you, I would post on the rootsweb mailing list for Galway.

You could try this site. You need to register to search and buy credits to view records (quite expensive so need to be sure). If the father was a farmer than the name may come up in the land evaluation.

Interestingly, some of the family seem to be in Galway still in 1911 -
