I'm wondering if you can help me on a sensitive matter...

Do not think you would have access to the records but I might be wrong

there is a Stillbirth register, but very limited access ,

from :directgov.co.uk

Due to the sensitive nature of stillbirth registrations, only the mother or father of the child is able to apply for a certificate. The parent must be named on the birth certificate to do this. Should the parents be deceased, a brother or sister can apply if they can provide their parents’ dates of death

If you know the hospital where the stillbirth took place you can ask to see the records if they are still available. (I think that maternity records are kept for 25 years+). You would have to have a very good reason for your request such as your relationship to the child. - Family research would not be considered a valid reason. - There would be a cost involved; not sure how much, each hospital varies.
Not sure what the rules were 29 years ago, but I thought stillborn babies had to be registered so that a funeral/burial could take place.
Sorry, not much help.
