I hope someone can help me here.
Delving through all my bits of GR papers, I found some census sheets with no dates, and I can't even guess what they should be. They have a reference no at the bottom.
Also I have BMD lists with no date.
Is it possible to find the dates by using these census reference numbers and vol/page bmd numbers.
will the 1881 census become available?
Sorry about all this, the thoughts just occurred to me.

You can search for BMD stuff by using ref. numbers I think - try Freebmd.

Not sure if you have all the peoples' details just not the census year?

What does this mean:

will the 1881 census become available?

Thanks for suggestion, jan
1881 census - lots of senior moments I think. My eyes and brain have skipped over it repeatedly and I wondered if it hadn't been done.
silly old me.

You can determine the year of the census records by the "RG" number:

RG13 = 1901, RG12 = 1891 ect with the number decreasing by one every 10 years.

I'd just been looking that up Jonesey

1841 & 1851 both start HO107
1861 - RG9
1871 - RG10
1881 - RG11
1891 - RG12
1901- RG13
1911- RG14

You can search at - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/Default.asp?j=1

Type the reference in the quick search box at top left. E.g., ho107/1992 gets:

HO 107/1990 Shropshire 1851
HO 107/1990 Registration District: 359. ATCHAM Registration Sub-District: 1 Condover ff.1-232 Parish: Harley 1851
etc thru
HO 107/1990 Registration District: 359. ATCHAM Registration Sub-District: 2 Pontesbury ff.233-End Parish: Habberley 1851

So the piece # 1990 covers 2 of the 7 subdistricts of Atcham regigstration district. for 1851 (the high ho107 #s are 1851 and the low #s are 1841).
