Thanks Annie and Belle, I am very grateful. Better explain - old lady has told her SIL she knows nothing - I make contact with SIL and give him all the tree and background info I have (OH's family and been researching them for 25yrs). Old lady now says she knows more than she let on and is disputing my work left right and centre. It would be funny if it was not so irritating!!!!

Am looking for Charles Joseph Horn b 1904 Portsmouth and was a Chief Stoker when his ship went down in August 1944. Have tried Ancestry and FMP but no luck.

I know got service records for RN before (last year sometime) looked in National Archieves but found nothing and got more confused! Not hard to do. I know he was full time and was in Navy when he married in 1927.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please before I bash an old lady over the head with a frying pan!

Thank you
