Twins or co-incidence?

Thanks for all your thoughts, I think at some point I shall have to get her birth cert to solve this.

I can account for all of my fathers siblings and thier wives/husbands so knew it's not a case of 2 brothers marrying 2 sisters, but I have checked the indexes anyway and they are no other Smith/Jones [not the correct names] marriage over a 40 year period in England/Wales!

I can't see a death for her either, having had another look.

Ah well twins do run on this line

Patricia,

Gwyn has just explained the possible case for twins......... and it does happen frequently.

My husbands Grandfather always lead us to believe he was an only child, he presto what did I find 3 years later........ 2 births, same surname and mothers maiden name, registered in same area, same quarter, same volume and pag numbers........ TWINS!!!!!!!! Now I could see where the twins that ran in the family came from, so I sent for both certificates. Was very surprised to find different parent info on the certificates. It turned out that brothers had married sisters and the coincedence was that they just had a child with days of eachother.

Was slightly disappointed but hey we got a surviving brother for the Grandfather.

It sounds very much as if they are twins, but I have known a similar case where the 2 children turned out to be cousins, -2 brothers had married 2 sisters.
As suggested you could look for deaths or you could check back for births of 'known' names. Some of mine have been known to change forenames along the way!
You could send for the certificate of one child. A twin birth of that time would show a time.

Sounds as if they could be twins, especially if it is unusual combination of parent's surnames and that *all* registration details are the same. Unfortunately, the only real way of knowing is buy the BCs. If you weren't previously aware of them, you could perhaps look for deaths ?

Just been checking birth refs for my cousins, and for one family I have the 4 cousins I knew about, but found another that could be and non identical twins do run in this family

I cannot post details as they would still be alive, but am wondering what the chances are of 2 people with the same surname, mothers maiden name and same page no on indexes NOT being a twin? And having her Grandmothers name too!

Wondered if she could have died young but can't see an obvious death for her, but I have only had a very quick look
