Jill - looks very possible - the only way to find out for sure is to get the certificate! As for the census entries, this person would seem to be two years too young, although of course I'm relying on her entry on the marriage record for that.

That's right Mary. However, There's no record of her birth or in the 1881 or 1891 censuses. As she was single in 1901 it looks like Johnstone was her birth name and I've tried all sorts of variants.

Is it the lady who married william richard Wilcockson in Islington 1904??

1911 has her as born 1872 St Pancras.

I've now found Edith Florence Johnstone on the 1901 census as a female warder at Holloway Prison. Her first name had been mis-transcribed as 'North'!!!

As I can't find anything about her prior to this date, I'm wondering if any sort of employment record would have survived. But where would I look for prison warders?
