How much for cert. please.

I ordered 2 certificates by phone from a Register Office last week and paid £18 in total,, paid by card. ...ie. No extra for postage.

The Fee is fixed by statute at £9.25, irrespective of how you order.

e.g., From the Direct Gov site:-

"How much will it cost to order by post or phone?
Standard Service

If you supply the certificate index reference, the certificate is sent within four working days. Without the reference, it will be sent within 15 working days.

All standard service certificates, including each additional copy, cost £9.25."

The statutory fee for a cert from a local Register Office is £7.00 from the current register (i.e.recent events only) otherwise it is £9.00 You will have to pay postage on top of that, in most cases if you don't collect in person.

Jackie - Although my gut instinct is to say that it is the same price (£9.25). Since information on the website only seems to apply to online ordering, you may want to phone them during the week to double check.

Can anyone tell me how much I have to send to order a full birth cert. from the ONS, I am going to send a postal order, I haven't ordered cert. for a long time now & don't know how much they are, it's a old cert. from 1883 that I'm sending for.
