Contact on GR hasn't opened email

I was really excited to find a connection on GR with someone recently and sent an email to make contact & request access to their tree, but unfortunately they haven't opened the email. I see from their details that they last updated their tree in 2006. What do I do now?
I am very keen to get in touch with this person. Any suggestions?

This question crops up at least once a fortnight.

Bottom line is not a lot, if they haven't opened their mail chances are the no longer visit the site, or if they do, only very rarely.

Incidentally how did you tell when they last updated their tree? - I haven't seen that before.

If they have an unusual name you can try things like Friends Reunited and Facebook, 192.com = maybe you can track them down that way. Have you checked out other sites too such as Ancestry?

I clicked on their name in my messages sent section and it states when they first made contact and when they last updated - unfortunately in this case it was January 2006 in both cases!
I suspect they may be from the Oxford area and have an uncommon surname, but I don't have access to electoral roll.
We have such a small family and no knowledge of relatives. My very elderly Mum would be so thrilled if I could make contact. Very frustrating...............

What a good idea - hadn't thought of FR & Facebook. Will try that right now.

The first contact and last updated is when you sent them a message, not when they last updated their tree. So you have sent them a message before....has that been opened?

Thanks to brummiejan for her suggestion to try Friends Reunited. Found her within 60 seconds! I only hope she answers my email. Maybe she's just not interested anymore. Fingers crossed.
