I really do think they are the family brummiejan as Dinah's mum was called Jane, and I think Jane was named after her nan. Still can't prove the chuffing thing though lol. I'm going to have to pay out to prove it. It is a funny connection that she has to the family and I won't bore you going into it, needless to say she intrigues me. Thanks again for your help (",)

Obviously only the birth or marriage certificate will confirm whether what has been found is accurate or not.

Just in case it is here is the marriage of Dinah's mother to Joseph Pywell (not likely to be Dinah's father):

Marriages Dec 1855 (>99%)
PYWELL Joseph Birmingham 6d 123
MILBURN Jane Birmingham 6d 123

Jane who was born in Scotland died in West Bromwich in 1874.

Thank you so much Brummiejan & Jonesey. You have both found the same information as me, though it took me a lot chuffing longer than it did you 2 lol. I too think that Dinah and William are her parents Jonesey, but can't prove it. I think she is their first born child, but can't understand why she is not with them on the 1881 census, or anywhere else for that matter. Thank you so very much both for helping me on this. I don't really want to buy her certificate in case she is not one of our relatives but think it is the only way I can prove if she is related or not.

The above family as found by Jonesey - surely must be connected as now in Nuneaton. But where is Jane if so?:

The only likely looking Eales family living in West Bromwich in 1871 would appear to be this one.

1871:
Name: William Eales
Age: 21
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1850
Relation: Son-in-Law
Spouse's Name: Dinah Eales
Gender: Male
Where born: Tipton, Staffordshire, England
Civil parish: West Bromwich
Ecclesiastical parish: St Peter
Town: West Bromwich
County/Island: Staffordshire
Country: England
Registration district: West Bromwich
Sub-registration district: West Bromwich South West

Household schedule number: 157
Household Members:
Name Age
Joseph Pywell 55
Jane Pywell 55
Annie White 13
William Eales 21
Dinah Eales 20

It might be significant as in 1911, (Found by Jan) her birthplace is shown as Great Bridge. In 1871 the Eales family are living in Great Bridge.

The above couples marriage:

Marriages Dec 1870 (>99%)
EALES William W. Bromwich 6b 1115
MILBURN Dinah W. Bromwich 6b 1115

That is the right marriage Jonesey, I think I have found her family, but need proof, I will have to send off for their certificate. Thanks for your help. I thought that might be the case Slartibartfast, was hoping I was wrong lol.

Thank you both (",)

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 22 Mar 2011 16:53

This then presumably is her first marriage:

Marriages Jun 1890 (>99%)
Ealer Jane Elizabeth Nuneaton 6d 727
WRIGHT Charles Nuneaton 6d 727

A copy of the certificate should give details of her father if she knew them.

Likewise a copy of her birth certificate should name both her parents if her mother was indeed married at the time of her birth.

Hi Jonesey,

Yes your right it was West Bromwich. I know she married Charles Wright in 1890 and then she married George Warmington in 1905, but I can't find anything about her from her birth up to her marriage. Sorry to send you on a wild goose chase by giving you wrong info.......(",) Thankyou for checking for me.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 22 Mar 2011 16:33

Question one. Are you certain that she was born in Castle Bromwich as this looks an unlikely coincidence:

Births Sep 1871 (>99%)
EALES Jane Elizabeth West. Bromwich 6b 702

I presume that you meant the 1891 census where she first appeared as a married lady. I cannot spot a marriage for her before 1891. What was her married surname in 1891?

In this particular case I am not sure that the electoral roll is likely to help you unless you know the exact addresses where she was living.

Kerry Report 22 Mar 2011 16:24

Hi all,

Would anyone know when the Electoral Roll started in England and if it would be of any use to me when searching for a female b1871? I'm trying to find Jane Elizabeth Eales b1871 Castle Bromwich, she is not showing on any census until the 1991 by which time she is married. If the electoral roll is no good would anyone know what other information I could search to try and find where she could be and with whom she lived. I know she moved to Nuneaton at some point and would like to find out her parents name and at what point they moved.

Thanking you in advance of any advice given. Kerry (",)
