Thanks for all of your input. I think I'll start using other sites, such as those suggested but I really do appreciate all the the comments and help. Thank you.

I think what you are saying is "Who makes the connection within the Records". The connection is made by a transcriber not a relative.

The quarter and year, place, volume number and page number should make the connection...provided they can all be read.

Have you been looking on the Marriage records here on GR?

It is much much easier to use www.freebmd.org.uk

enter the name of the groom, range of years covering when you think the marriage happened, county where you think it happened.

Results on freebmd usually come up in 4 names .................... 2 couples, and ou can then use censuses to determine who married who.

There are glitches which happen when names or page numbers ahve been mis-transcribed.

but it is so much easier than trying this site

and it is FREE!

I do not understand the "where the bride and groom are matched on screen".

I do not have access to Records on GR but if you put put the groom's name, place of birth, and year of birth this should cut down the number of entries you get.

How can you tell that somebody has made the connection ?

It is a bit unclear what it is you are trying to say. Can you clarify where it is you are looking at when you say

"search for a marriage and someone has already made a connection,"

Thanks Pam. I've tried that and for some reason the ladies name doesn't show although it must have been known for them to have connected the bride and groom. The groom's name is there but as it is common there are loads to search through. I would have thought that there was a better way to contact someone who had obviously been after the same people. How do you do that connection thing, anyway ? Wjere the bride and groom are matched on screen ?

If you go to Search Trees (along the top) and enter the information you have you should be able to make contact with anybody who has that person in their tree.

When you search for a marriage and someone has already made a connection, is it possible to contact whoever it was ?
