Looks good, his wittness at the marriage was a Morris Jones, could be a connection or maybe not, Jones and Griffiths being very common surnames in that part of the world, many thanks

WIlliam Griffith was born at Penmorfa , Caernarvonshire.
This is him, I am 100% sure of that.
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/records.page/image/e1911rg14/8004184?searchhistorykey=8286417&surname=griffith&forename=william
shows him on the 1911 census. Sorry it took me so long to answer. not being too computer literate had to wait for a young neighbour to show me how to do it.
His "sister's" daughter was Laura Jones, she died, according to her gravestone on November 2nd 1871 aged 10 weeks.
I am not 100% sure that his "sister" was his sister or his aunt

You may never find a birth cert........

Until 1875, there were no penalites for not registering births

In the 1871 census that Flick posted was an Elizabeth Griffith a female servant age 22 also born in Penmorfa - A possible sister of William?

Am now going to follow Morris Jones to see if that leads somewhere.
Marriage certificate has William Griffith as father. Could it be that William griffiths (1809)
was his granfather. Wish me luck , Been looking for him on and off for years but at least now I have something new to follow.

It is possible that Elizabeth Griffith was a sister as his "sister"Ann named one of her daughters Elizabeth
Wish me luck
Many thanks
