certificates from 1st July 1837 ie Sept qtr 1837 when official registration started however before then you can see copies of the parish records of marriages but they dont state fathers names and the ages of the parties will be "of Full Age" ie over 21 or "Minor" ie under 21 . this practice of age recording carried on after certs started too

I've been stuck for a very long time, keep having a break then trying again but not having any success on the following, any ideas anyone?

John Arnold born 1801 Spitalfields married Mary Ann Oliver born 1900.

Marriage took place 1826 by banns, all that is shown on the Parish Register is their names and the date.

I need to find any siblings and his parents names?

Some London marriages on Ancestry for 1835 and 1836 are the same as those used from1837 onwards

Have you looked on IGI for his baptism record

most marriages before 1837 did not show father's names.

some of the earlier ones (before about 1825), often don't have witnesses

Hi Glitter,
I'm not sure if that could be my John , any idea how I can confirm this. As far as I'm aware even if I get certificates they will not tell me the parents and even if they did how can I be sure they are the right parents.

There aren't any certs before 1837, what Glitter has found for you are entries in Parish Church Registers for Baptisms.

What you need to do is to look for additional corroborating evidence.
to either confirm or refute.
