That's it - I'd run out of ideas using conventional sites...love solving problems!!

Your idea of using + gave 58000 results, but worth remembering

I wonder if "jacob+gowing+susan+clear" would also work?

was this what you got?

Full text of "Allegations for marriage licences in the ...
53 Jacob Gowing, of Gislingham, s. m., 20 years, & Susan Clear, of same, 24 years, s. w., at same. 9 July, 1784. 54 Joseph Humphry, of St. Peter's, Sudbury, ...

if so, there's another alternative for you!

This may help someone!

I had found a 1784 marriage between Jacob Gowing and Mary Clear. From 1787 onwards Jacob has a lot of children baptised, in each case the mother is named as Susan Clears - dilemma!!!
No sign of a marriage between Jcob and Susan.
In desperation I googled "Jacob Gowing" "Susan Clear" as one search with both names in inverted commas and came up with one hit. Solved the problem - try it!
