hi there,
Yes his mother was named Wood. So it looks like this one isn't mine. Thank you so much, that clears my head a bit. Thanks

A curious one! If his name is John Wood Jr. it intimates that his father is John Wood Sr. but you say he's illegitimate and father's name not recorded? Was mother's maiden name Wood? If so it's unlikely that father's name is also Wood.

oh nice one Ann. Yeh i have come to a brick wall now. John Wood is illegitimate and i know his mothers name, but not his fathers. Tried everything i can, but to no avail. Thought i had found him and his mother, but it seems that is wrong now. So back to square one, or not at all. Many thanks for you help though Ann and patchem

Was thinking along the lines of patchem, but you did not say who the bride and groom were, however came across a similar situation with another poster........and Junior was his actual surname! lol

yeh thanks patchem i thought about that. It was 1814 Ann. Just wondered as it would help sort something out.

Junior can just mean he is not John Wood Senior, so can be any age.

Hi there,
Trying to work out if it says for instance John Wood Junior as a witness, what age do you suspect he is. No father at the wedding though i don't think.
