Electoral registers have their uses but pretty limited, especially prior to 1919 when all (pretty much!) men over 21 and women over 30 got the vote. (I'm assuming you are referring to the UK).

What is it you are hoping to find? It may be that there are other records which might be more useful.

HI Mike

They started in 1832 and have been produced annually since then, apart from 1916 - 1917 and 1940 - 1944. Originally they were alphabetical but as more people got the vote they changed to a street-based system.
