Very interesting.I have worldwide sub for ancestry.I am putting a tree together for a friend that lives abroad.I wanted to put it on the net so she and her family could all access it.I have put it on Tribal Pages now but interesting to know what ancestry is doing.

beta is usually used as a term to describe a site that is under trial

so I guess mundia mean the users who have signed up to the test run fo the site

....... ie, the ones who have signed up during the free period, in this case.

What does the term "Beta Users" mean.

From Mundia.com website --
"We may allow registered Website users to access the Website free of charge for a limited period of time designated by us in our sole discretion (the "Free Access Period"). During the Free Access Period, such users (“Beta Users”) will have access to other users’ family tree data and will be able to connect with other users, and add, edit and share data with other users. After the end of the Free Access Period, Beta Users will continue to have access to certain parts of the Service that were accessible to them during the Free Access Period. However, after the Free Access Period, Beta Users may be required to purchase a subscription to the Website in order to access other parts of the Service. Prior to expiration of the Free Access Period, we will notify all Beta Users regarding their rights to access the Website after the Free Access Period. AFTER THE END OF THE FREE ACCESS PERIOD, WE WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY BILL ANY BETA USER UNLESS HE OR SHE AUTHORIZES US TO DO SO."

And at the top of the Mundia page where I copied the above paragraph, it reads, "Mundia, by Ancestry.com"

i am registered with ancestry, but not as a paying member.

I also registered with mundia, and use the same sign in details as ancestry. in fact ancestry recognized me and prompted me to enter the same details.

I Have no trouble accessing public trees, but ancestry often asks me if I would like to subscribe !!

Money saved I can use for the power bill !

www.mundia.com

is another company of ancestry

they have taken all the public trees from ancestry and re-posted them on the free site

and also some private trees as well .............. People are not too happy about that!

You have to register, and sign in, but it is allegedly free.

It will not however allow me to sign in ........ I end up in one of those endless circles register->sign in->register->sign in-> ...................

Hi Annie.
No they can't. I've let my subscription lapse and when I click to look at them it asks you to sign up.
