is there a way of splitting my family tree either on here or ancestry.

i want to have just my maternal line in a separate tree so i can send it to some newly found relatives

I'm wondering if you can make your Mum the Home person ?

Not as far as I am aware. You need to have you software on your PC using a commercial program such as FTM before you could consider splitting it.

Even then there is no need to split. FTM will allow you to produce a report or file containing selected names only, which you can send email / post to your newly found relatives.

If you mean on GR then no, there isn't an option to change the home person. However, if you contact GR the might be able to help, although in the past they have usually only done this when for some reason an imported gedcom ends up showing someone other than yourself as home person. Why do you want your Mum as the home person?
